Not the story of adoption, but of a transfer according to another life

Take a look at these verses from Colossians 2:

  • …you were raised together with Him through the faith of the operation of God, who raised Him from the dead. And you, though dead in your offenses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our offenses; Wiping out the handwriting in ordinances, which was against us, which was contrary to us; and He has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross. Stripping off the rulers and the authorities, He made a display of them openly, triumphing over them in it (vv.12-15).

At this time the cross was the center of the universe because Christ was there. But He was not alone— sin, Satan, we and God were all there too.

While Christ was there working to accomplish redemption, God was there judging sin and all negative things, and nailing the law to the cross.

Also, the evil angels were there working.

Actually a war was taking place while Christ was being crucified because these rulers and authorities came to interfere with the work of God.

Yet, as they pressed close to God and Christ, He stripped them off like garments, making a display of them openly, putting them to shame and triumphing over them!

Now the atmosphere was cleared up and the way was open so that we could fully participate in Christ.

So God raised us up together with Christ, when He raised Him from the dead.

And even though we had been dead in our sins, He made us alive together with Christ.

Because God removed the law, we are no longer bothered by the terms, conditions and requirements that the law placed on us.

The law which exposed our sinfulness has been nailed to the cross. And God now has the way to bring us into His full salvation.

This is a fact! But this does not seem to match our experience. It seems that we still have a war raging against us…

  • For our wrestling is not against blood and flesh but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenlies. (Eph. 6:12)

But there is a way to make this fact our experience. According to Ephesians 6:10, we have been given the same power that raised up Christ from the dead and seated Him in the heavens. We are empowered to fight through our prayer against the spiritual forces.

The practical way—the unique and crucial way— to fight is to pray.

  • By means of all prayer and petition, praying at every time in spirit and watching unto this in all perseverance and petition concerning all the saints (Eph. 6:13-18)

As we pray, we can enter into God’s full salvation.
