The Lord Jesus is the Word who was God from the beginning (John 1:1). Then He became flesh to be the last Adam (John 1:14).
Because He had flesh and blood, He could be our Redeemer. As the last Adam, a man in the flesh, He lived and walked with His disciples.
But something happened after His death and resurrection. First Corinthians 15:45b says, “The last Adam became a life-giving Spirit.”
Why is this? It is so He could impart life. Now He is ready to be received by His believers. When we believe into Him, He can enter our spirit and we are joined to Him as this life-giving One.
Now, our spirit once deadened is made alive! And we are made a new creation.
